This Project has been shaped by local residents from the start. We gather feedback through surveys, conversations, consultations, open sessions and ongoing community activity, and we share what we hear and what we do in response.

A) Youth spaces
We spoke to young people in Northstowe, and they told us they want practical, multi-use spaces that feel genuinely “for them” somewhere to build skills, do homework, and hang out with friends. Our proposal reflects this, with youth input continuing through representation on an advisory body so they can help shape the space as it develops.
B) Inclusivity and interfaith welcome
Residents want a space that feels welcoming to everyone people of faith and people of no faith. Our proposal supports respectful shared use for diverse gatherings, celebrations, and community groups.
C) Wellbeing and belonging
You told us you want a place to feel connected, especially in a new town where loneliness can be real. Our proposal includes a wellbeing programme for different ages and needs, including yoga, circles, support groups, and uplifting community sessions, bringing focus to wellbeing.
D) Affordable access (free / low-cost)
You asked for activities that are accessible to all, not just those who can pay. Our proposal keeps most sessions free or donation-based wherever possible, supported by fundraising and partnerships.
E) Parking, transport and neighbour impact
Residents want community activity without disruption to neighbours or school-time traffic. Our proposal includes a transport and event management approach: booking-led busy sessions, accessible parking priority, stewarding/signage, and clear “no overspill” planning.
F) Flexibility and multi-use rooms
People want spaces that can adapt to many needs, from classes and meetings to quiet reflection and community meals. Our proposal includes flexible rooms, a subdividable hall, kitchen/café spaces, and the storage needed to run programmes properly.
G) A place where different cultures can thrive
Residents value celebrations and cultural learning that bring people together and help children feel proud of their heritage. Our proposal protects space for festivals, arts, music, dance, and school-linked cultural learning.
H) Hindu Temple that welcomes everyone
We’ve heard clearly that the Hindu place of worship should be open, welcoming, and respectful to all visitors including Jain, Buddhist, and Sikh communities. Our proposal includes shared-use guidelines so everyone feels comfortable and included.
